There are different enrollment periods Medicare has depending on the type of Medicare beneficiary.

You can switch, drop, or join a different Medicare Plan during this time.

Limited to Medicare Advantage enrollees. You can leave your plan and switch to Original Medicare plus a standalone Part D plan if desired.

Limited to those who are turning 65 or qualify as Medicare disabled and therefore are becoming eligible for Medicare for the first time.

Only Medicare beneficiaries in certain special cases can enroll during the SEP.
